This project will restore riparian corridor, wetlands and upland habitat in the Rouge River Watershed to advance the delisting of the benthos beneficial use impairment ultimately leading to the delisting of the Fish and Wildlife Habitat and Population Beneficial Use Impairments. The Project will continue the measurable progress shown on the Rouge River as documented in improvement in flooding statistics (decreased peak floods occurring less frequently) and increase in diversity in benthos. The Rouge River Watershed is the most urban watershed in the State of Michigan and has been the focus of restoration efforts by local government and a variety of stakeholder and stewardship groups. This project will unite these past efforts and reduce areas of mowed turf grass and install grow zones and prairie in local parks
The service was completed, and were funded under specific grants for those activities that have since been closed.
