Grosse Pointe Woods and Grosse Pointe Shores are in a collaborative effort to make substantial changes to the Grosse Pointe Woods emergency dispatch operations. The goal of this consideration is two-fold: 1. Maintain or improve the current level of service, and 2. Reduce costs. An Ad Hoc Grosse Pointe Public Safety Committee comprised of elected officials and the administrators of the two Grosse Pointe municipalities were tasked with exploring and making recommendations that will combine the 2 cities dispatch centers. This is an on-going process and the combined communities have applied for a grant for capital expenditures in the hopes of reaching this goal. The Department of Treasury is awarded a grant in the amount of $500,000 to this combined effort. The construction process is 90% complete as of September 2018. The City of Grosse Pointe Woods is currently funding this effort, with contributions from Grosse Pointe Shores, and has submitted for reimbursement to the State for the total grant award of $500,000
