This proposed service has been implemented. Code enforcement services which also include residential rental and fire inspections for the Village of Holly is conducted and supervised by Fire Chief Steve McGee of the Groveland Township Fire Department. There is an existing agreement between the two governing bodies approving the concept.
The Village of Holly and Groveland Township are in the process of working out an agreement to have Groveland Township's Code Enforcement Officer perform these services within the Village of Holly. In exchange the Village of Holly Building Official will perform full Building Official and Plan Review services for Groveland Township.
September 2012 the Village met with Groveland Township's Fire Chief and Groveland agreed to provide a Groveland employee to conduct Fire Inspections within the Village for no cost.
November 2012 Groveland began conducting Fire Inspections on commercial properties within the Village.
December 2012 the Building Official/Fire Chief for Groveland Township began performing all Building official and building inspections for properties located in the Village of Holly.
March 2013 during the budget prepration process staff will look into hiring a part-time building inspector to assist with performing inspection services within the Village.
July 1, 2013 the Village will look to employ a part-time building inspector to begin assisting with these services.
The Village anticipates spending approximately $10,000 in salary costs for this position.
All Village Code Enforcement functions have been turned over to the full-time Holly Police Department effective July 1, 2013. This was in part as a result of the Village's Code Enforcement Officer leaving the employment of the Village and Groveland Township does not utilize a full-time code enforcement officer.
