In 1997 Lyon Township and the City of South Lyon contracted with Huron Valley Ambulance Service to provide emergency medical service for its residents. For the first few years of this agreement the City was subsidizing HVA but stopped once HVA was able to go it alone. The City has and continues to provide a part of the City's Fire Station for HVA's use. The saving to the City can only be measured by the cost it incurred when the City provided the service wich was $1,583 per month.
