Primary Purpose: To assess how the start up of an employer-sponsored Health and Wellness Clinic would financially impact the participating cities.
Revenue: Unknown at this time. This study will provide estimates of cost savings to the employee benefit and workers' compensation component areas.
Description: The City, in partnership with Royal Oak, Hazel Park, and Madison Heights plan to create a Health and Wellness Clinic that will provide service for employees of the participating municipalities. The clinic will cover workers compensation claims, as well as general health services and prescriptions for employees as well as their dependents. This approach to health service is a method that has worked in the private industry, and is heavily used as a model in other states. The communities are in the midst of an impact study that is expected to be completed by June 1, 2013. If all goes well, we hope the clinic will be operational by December, 2013.
UPDATE as of 12/31/13:
This project is in process. Madison Heights, Ferndale, Royal Oak, and Hazel Park are still planning to create a Health and Wellness Clinic that will provide service for employees of the participating municipalities. We have collaborated on a request for proposals (RFP) which was released December 4, 2013 with proposals due no later than January 30, 2014 at 4:00 P.M. This RFP is specifically for services of a medical management to operate this multi-city sponsored Health & Wellness Center for the exclusive use of our employees, their dependents and retirees who live in and around the area. Once the RFPs are received a committee of representatives from each municipality will evaluate the proposals and make a decision 1) if we can move forward 2) who the vendor will be and 3) the timeline for implementation. We are hopeful that our recent CGAP to assist with implementation cost and will be able to have the clinic operational by June 30, 2014
While this project is moving slower than originally anticipated there have been no major barriers.
