A 2011 labor agreement with the police command officers bargaining unit resulted in elimination of several command positions and consolidation of job responsibilities amongst remaining command officers. Command officers have been reduced (through attrition) from 35 to 28, and corporal rank reduced from 39 to 30, resulting in a savings of approximately $2.5 million annually.
Reduction savings in police command has allowed street patrols to be maximized.
